Do-not-call lists

Your own do-not-call list stops all calls to a number. For sales calls, upload the National Do-Not-Call Registry file every 31 days.

There are two do-not-call lists in Nerro: your own, and the national registry.

Your do-not-call list

Find it at the bottom of the Leads page. Your AI employees never call these numbers, and imports skip them.

  • Add a number yourself with Add.
  • When someone says "stop calling me" on a call, or texts STOP, they're added automatically. Only they can undo it.
  • Remove takes a number off the list. Your employees could then call it again, if the person has agreed to be contacted.

The National Do-Not-Call Registry

This matters for sales calls only. Calls back to people who asked you to contact them don't need it.

Nerro skips numbers on the national list, using your own free download. Go to Settings → Do-Not-Call Registry.

Getting the file, free

  1. Register your business at telemarketing.donotcall.gov. You get your own account number (SAN). The law requires each business to use its own.
  2. Choose up to 5 area codes, the ones your sales calls go to. The first 5 are free.
  3. Download the full list for them as a text file, then upload it under Your registry file.

Only owners and admins can upload or remove files.

The 31-day rule

The law requires a copy of the registry no older than 31 days on the day of a call. Upload a fresh copy at least every 31 days; once a month is easiest.

If a file is over 31 days old, Nerro warns you and pauses sales calls until you upload a fresh one. Follow-up calls aren't affected.

If you haven't uploaded anything, sales calls rely on you checking the registry yourself, as you confirmed in Outbound setup.

In campaigns

Before a campaign launches, each person is checked. Anyone on your list or the national registry shows as blocked, with the reason, on the Campaigns page.
